What's the point?
Was our first BOA Nationals event. It would seem that unless you are a gigantic band with lots of money, that you have a very slim chance of winning. Judging seems inconsistent and subjective as well. It depends on which set of judges you may get for a given prelim block. We were a regional semi-finalist and finished regionals with a certain score. For the nationals, we performed in afternoon block. We had fixed almost all of the issues from regionals, had a great run, our best run, and received the exact same score in prelims at Nationals that we had previously received in regionals, while all other bands that performed in the morning block, that had also previously competed in our regional performance, had significantly higher scores. We had previously scored significantly higher significantly higher than some of these at regionals. I wasn't necessarily expecting to win, but our performance was much improved over regionals, yet we received no improvement in score.
